Performances
Ravi Teja as always delivers an energetic performance and with his typical style of dialogue delivery, Ravi Teja effortlessly engages the audiences. He dances with unmatched energy.
Shruti Haasan looks glamorous in the movie and she has pleasing screen presence. She sizzled in the songs and has proved that she can pull of glam doll roles well.
Anjali with an innocence in her role as a doctor managed to do the most impressive job. Her role is crucial part of the film and the song Ninnu Chusina was shot well.
Brahmanandam strikes equally and in fact he is an asset for the film. Crazy Mohan role in Balupu is one of his best in the recent times. Prakashraj plays his part earnestly while Adivi Sesh, Ashuthosh Rana leaves a lasting impact. Thagubothu Ramesh is okay but Ali’s comedy looked forced.
Technical Analysis
Jayanan Vincent camera works is good with colorful visuals. Thaman’s musical though not chartbusters, they make a decent listen. However the background score is loud. While the direction is good, screenplay is impressive in the first half. Editing could have been better in the second half. Dialogues are okay and might work with masses.
Production values are rich.
Analysis
Ravi Teja, Shruti Haasan and Brahmanandam comedy scenes are hilarious. Ravi Teja, Brahmi scenes have always worked on-screens and this time Shruti joins the duo. The Haasan girl appears in ultra glamorous outfits.
Brahmanandam is an asset for the film. His dances and antics on Gangnam style and Dil Jamping Japak tracks along with leads, followed by Iddarammayilatho spoof dialogue (Matallev Matladukovdallev) are sure to leave you in splits. The comedy is sensibly paced in the first half.
The pre-inteval portions are well shot with a good twist raising expectations on the second half. Emotional scenes are high in the second half and the film moves on a predictable note in the latter half. However, the pre-climax scenes involving Ravi Teja, Brahmi are hilarious and highly entertaining. Balupu follows regular commercial movie template with a routine storyline, yet Gopichand Malineni and his team makes it fun and entertaining.
Final Verdict
Mass Masala Formula reapplied-Entertaining First Half & Passable Second Half
